Bianca and Ryan couldn't have chosen a better location for their beautiful maritime wedding! They were married at the historic New Bedford Seamen's Bethel and had their reception across the street at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

Bianca was born in New Bedford, MA so naturally the couple wanted to share the vitality of the city with their guests by celebrating their nuptials at the Seamen's Bethel. The bride and groom also felt it was important to honor the bride's Azorean ancestors by hosting their wedding at the historical New Bedford Whaling Museum's Azorean Whaleman Gallery. "The Whaling Museum and the Azores Maritime Heritage Society have done an amazing job highlighting the Azorean impact in the area and demonstrates the development of a vibrant Azorean community in New Bedford, MA. Making it the perfect place for our wedding celebration" - Bianca Leeds

The Azorean Whaleman Gallery is a gift of the Government of Portugal honoring the Portuguese people and their significant contribution to the maritime heritage of New Bedford.  The Azorean Maritime Heritage Society, founded in New Bedford in 1997, works in partnership with the New Bedford Whaling Museum to preserve the contributions of Azoreans to American whaling in the Whaling Museum’s Azorean Whaleman Gallery.

The Bride's family is from the Azores Island of St. Miguel, Portugal, where they were part of the fishing community in Vila Franca do Campo. The Bride’s family migrated to New Bedford in 1966 where they worked in the sea scollop industry.  Today New Bedford’s centuries-old fishing industry has survived, and is thriving. New Bedford remains one of the nation’s most prominent port cities, true to its proud maritime heritage. With the fishing experience and culture of hard work of the Portuguese immigrants and their descendants, New Bedford stands today as the nation’s number one commercial fishing port.

It was wonderful witnessing these two marry! Here are a few images from their wedding day, enjoy!
